My Little Corner Of The World

Happy New Year! Who's ready for a room tour? I've seen room tours on a lot of blogs I read and it looked like a great idea, so when I rearranged my spot to fit in my Christmas things I went ahead and took the pictures for it.

Right now my bookshelf consists of my NKJV bible that I got for the twelfth day of Christmas in 2006, my ESV bible, my ESV journaling bible, "To Have And To Hold" by Mary Johnston, "The Secret Garden", a journal Tori gave me, and a bucket with color pencils and bible journaling pens.
The stack of books on the top is a planter, but I'm using it as a box until I get some plants.

Bri gave me that picture on the wall for Christmas last year.
my jewelry drawers, candle, and mixed contents bucket.

The lamp Mommy gave me.

The whole of it.

Above my bed.

Well, what do you think? Let me know in the comments. Bye.
(P.S. Post # =50)

Goodbye December/Hello 2019

December is done and 2019 is upon us. This has been a really good year and I can't wait to see what the new year brings. This is my first ever month wrap-up post and I hope the first of many more to come.  One of my goals for the new year is to post at least twice a month.

Events that happened:
We celebrated St. Nicholas day with stockings, cinnamon rolls, pizza, and going to Swan Lake to see some Christmas lights.
Our church had a meal and concert to celebrate its one year anniversary in the new building.
Making Christmas candy,

Daddy's family came down,
We went to see lights again twice

Christmas eve family night.
CHRISTMAS HAPPENED!

The above are some gifts that I made.

And my collection.
New Years Eve marshmallow roast.
And I got a phone, hence the pictures. They aren't the best quality, but their the best my camera can do.

Reading: To Have And To Hold, by Mary Johnston.
I'm also reading through the bible with a ladies fellowship reading challenge by some Christ Church women.

Word of the year: Patience. I have been struggling with patience a lot, so I am going to make it my goal to practice it a lot more often in 2019.

Goals for 2019:

  1. Read 1 new book a month,
  2. Write a few more short stories,
  3. Perfect my sewing skills,
  4. Write two blog posts a month,
  5. Work harder at school then usual,
  6. Bake more often,
  7. Babysit my younger siblings at least once,
  8. Not go over my $15 budget like I usually do,
  9. Get at least semi-good at lettering (in time to make Christmas cards that look good for once),
  10. Do a little more crafting than I have been doing,
  11. Practice patience,
  12. Journal more.

What did you do for Christmas? What are three things that you want to do in 2019?

A Winter Tag

I made my own tag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I decided since no one has tagged me this year, I will make up my own tag

The rules: Link back to the starter of the tag (that's me!),
Thank the person who tagged you,
Answer all 12 questions,
Name 12 facts about yourself,
Tag at least 5 people,
Have fun!

1. What is your favorite Christmas activity?
Making Christmas presents.

2. What is your earliest Christmas time memory?
Opening our Andy Griffith show box set.

3. Do you celebrate St. Nicolas Day?
Yes.

4. Which would you rather, lights at the zoo or looking at your neighborhood through car windows?
I would rather looking through the car windows. You can bring your own Hot Chocolate, it isn't so busy, and you can go on an adventure.

5. How do you spend Christmas Eve?
Finishing Christmas baking, wrapping gifts, finishing advent, and watching a Muppet's Christmas Carol.

6. Hot Chocolate or Ice Cream?
Hot Chocolate, but Ice Cream is good any season.

7. Are you an early Christmas shopper or a late Christmas shopper?
I start early and finish late. I'm still not done with extended family gifts.

8. What Christmas book do you look forward to each year?
A quiet little woman by L. M. Alcott.

9. What is your favorite Christmas movie?
A Muppet's Christmas Carol.

10. How many family gatherings do you have a year?
At least two.

11. What holidays do you celebrate other then Christmas?
St. Nicholas Day and Epiphany.

12. What is your favorite winter activity?
Watching winter movies with popcorn and Hot Chocolate.

Facts about me:
  1. I love doing math but I don't like figuring it out.
  2. My favorite chocolate is Rollo's.
  3. My hobbies include working in the garden, making peg dolls, and working with felt.
  4. I'm excited about driving because it is harder then it looks.
  5. I like to journal, but I don't do it much.
  6. I burn the eggs every time I make them.
  7. I like to read.
  8. I have written one short story and I hope to write more someday.
  9. I can't even get much weeding done without someone beside me. They don't have to talk or help or anything. They just have to stand there.
  10. When I grow up, I want to work at a nursing home.
  11.  I am extremely extroverted, but I don't talk to people outside of my family that much.
12. I am not very good at keeping a blog, but I hope to change that in the coming year.

I tag: Bri, HannahSarah, Micaiah, and Bee.

And so ends the first tag I ever created. Goodbye until next time.

Winter/Christmas Tag

Hi guys! I decided to update this tag that I did last year and see how many of the answers have changed. And I will be able to tag people that might actually enjoy getting tagged. Also this is my first time posting as me. I have been using my moms account, but I now have my own.

The rules: Thank the person who nominated you,
Answer all the questions,
Tag least three bloggers.

1. Do you celebrate Christmas?
Yes! It's the most wonderful time of the year, which, by the way, only has 2 WEEKS LEFT! WHERE IS MY LIFE RUNNING AWAY TO!

2. Do you celebrate any other festive holidays other then Christmas or in addition to it?
Yes. We do St. Nicholas Day. This year we had cinnamon rolls for breakfast, did stockings (we do them on St. Nicholas Day instead of Christmas), and we went to Swan Lake to see some really pretty lights.

3. When it comes to weather, 70, 60, 50, 40, 30, 20, or 10 degrees?
I think 50 degrees is about the perfect temperature.

4. Rain or Snow?
Snow all the way. Also, it wasn't until this year that I realized let it snow is a love song. I had never actually heard the lyrics, just the music.

5. On the perfect winter day, would you go shopping or stay at home?
That one is a little if-y, so I guess it would depend on where all we were going and what all I need to get done that day.

6. Trip to the mall or walk in the park?
I am an equal opportunity person on that one as well.

7. Favorite Christmas movie(s)?
I think for now it's The Muppet's Christmas Carol. That's the one we watch on Christmas Eve when everyone is asleep as soon as they are done with there candy and it's 2:00 in the morning so all the inside jokes that you have collected are a lot funnier then they should be.

8. Favorite Christmas tradition?
Candy making and The Muppet's Christmas Carol.

9. Would you rather say "Happy Holidays" or "Merry Christmas".
Fellow "Christmas with a Capital C" watchers will already know the answer to this one, "merry Christmas".

10. What does your Christmas morning look like?
I'm just going to go with the poem I used last year...
 "Twas the day of Christmas
               and all through the house,
 not a creature was stirring,
          not even a Mouse."
We are more like afternoon people.

11.Favorite Christmas song/carol?
I really like carol of the bells.

12. Hot Chocolate, Peppermint Tea, Peppermint Mocha, OR Peppermint Milkshake?
My answer is Hot Chocolate all the way.

I tag: Bri,
Tori,
Hannah,
Maddy,
and Julia.
That is the first time I have ever had more than enough people to tag. Thanks for reading and goodbye.

Reformation Day

Reformation day is the anniversary of Martin Luther nailing his 95 theses to the church in Witenberg, so,  we do that instead of Halloween. We had Dirt Cups for lunch, made some chocolate Bibles, did some coloring pages of the 5 Solas, had Chili for supper, and later we are going to watch Samantha with popcorn, M'n'Ms, and hot choclate as the first Christmas movie of the season.
And now this challenge has drawn to a close so I am here to say, "Goodbye until next time."

When Peace Like A River

It is 11:00 at night so I am just going to do another hymn today.

When Peace Like A River
When peace like a river attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
"It is well, it is well with my soul."

Refrain (may be sung after final stanza only):
It is well with my soul;
It is well, it is well with my soul.

 Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control:
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And has shed his own blood for my soul. Refrain

 My sin oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part, but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more;
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul! Refrain

 O Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound and the Lord shall descend;
Even so, it is well with my soul. Refrain

Bye!

Before The Throne Of God Above

Before the throne of God above
Before the throne of God above
I have a strong, a perfect plea,
A great High Priest, whose name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart;
I know that while in heav'n He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart.

 When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look, and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin.
Because the sinless Savior died,
My sinful soul is counted free,
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me.

 Behold Him there! the risen Lamb!
My perfect, spotless righteousness,
The great unchangeable I AM"
The King of glory and of grace!
One with Himself, I cannot die;
My soul is purchased by His blood;
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ my Savior and my God.

Praise to the Lord

Praise to the Lord
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, praise him, for he is your health and salvation!
Come, all who hear; now to his temple draw near,
Join me in glad adoration.

 Praise to the Lord, above all things so wondrously reigning;
Sheltering you under his wings, and so gently sustaining!
Have you not seen all that is needful has been
Sent by his gracious ordaining?

 Praise to the Lord, who will prosper your work and defend you;
Surely his goodness and mercy shall daily attend you.
Ponder anew what the Almighty can do,
If with his love he befriends you.

 Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him!
All that has life and breath, come now with praises before him.
Let the Amen sound from his people again;
Gladly forever adore him.

I will sing of my Redeemer

I will sing of my Redeemer
I will sing of my Redeemer
and his wondrous love to me;
on the cruel cross he suffered,
from the curse to set me free.
Sing, O sing of my Redeemer!
With his blood he purchased me;
on the cross he sealed my pardon,
paid the debt, and made me free.

 I will tell the wondrous story,
how my lost estate to save,
in his boundless love and mercy,
he the ransom freely gave.
I will praise my dear Redeemer,
his triumphant power I'll tell:
how the victory he gives me
over sin and death and hell.

 I will sing of my Redeemer
and his heavenly love for me;
he from death to life has brought me,
Son of God, with him to be.
Sing, O sing of my Redeemer!
With his blood he purchased me;
on the cross he sealed my pardon,
paid the debt, and made me free.

Have a great weekend!

Holy, Holy, Holy!

Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!
Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee.
Holy, Holy, Holy! Merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

 Holy, Holy, Holy! All the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Which wert and art and evermore shalt be.

 Holy, Holy, Holy! though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye made blind by sin Thy glory may not see,
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee,
Perfect in pow'r, in love, and purity.

Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy name in earth and sky and sea.
Holy, Holy, Holy! Merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessed Trinity.

Happy Wednesday!

O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing

O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing
O for a thousand tongues to sing
My great Redeemer's praise,
The glories of my God and King,
The triumphs of his grace!

 My gracious Master and my God,
Assist me to proclaim,
To spread thro' all the earth abroad
The honors of your name.

 Jesus! the name that charms our fears,
That bids our sorrows cease,
'tis music in the sinner's ears,
'tis life and health and peace.

 He breaks the power of cancelled sin,
He sets the prisoner free;
His blood can make the foulest clean;
His blood availed for me.

 To God all glory, praise, and love
Be now and ever given
By saints below and saints above,
The Church in earth and heaven.

Have a great night:)!

A Mighty Fortress is Our God

Todays hymn is A Mighty Fortress is Our God.

A Mighty Fortress is Our God
A mighty fortress is our God
a bulwark never failing;
our helper he, amid the flood
of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe
does seek to work us woe;
his craft and power are great,
and armed with cruel hate,
on earth is not his equal.

 Did we in our own strength confide,
our striving would be losing,
were not the right Man on our side,
the Man of God's own choosing.
You ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is he;
Lord Sabaoth his name,
from age to age the same;
and he must win the battle.

And though this world, with devils filled,
should threaten to undo us,
we will not fear, for God has willed
his truth to triumph through us.
The prince of darkness grim,
we tremble not for him;
his rage we can endure,
for lo! his doom is sure;
one little word shall fell him.

 That Word above all earthly powers
no thanks to them abideth;
the Spirit and the gifts are ours
through him who with us sideth.
Let goods and kindred go,
this mortal life also;
the body they may kill:
God's truth abideth still;
his kingdom is forever!

Hymn Week, day 1, Hymn .5

Welcome to the official starting of Hymn Week. Today's hymn is "How Firm a Foundation"

How Firm a Foundation
How firm a foundation, you saints of the Lord,
Is laid for your faith in his excellent word!
What more can He say than to you he has said,
To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?

"Fear not, I am with you, O be not dismayed:
For I am your God, and will still give you aid:
I'll strengthen you, help you, and cause you to stand,
Upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand.

When through the deep waters I call you to go,
The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow:
For I will be with you, your troubles to bless,
And sanctify to you your deepest distress.

When through fiery trials your pathways shall lie,
My grace, all-sufficient, shall be your supply:
The flame shall not hurt you: I only design
Your dross to consume and your gold to refine.

The soul that on Jesus has leaned for repose,
I will not, I will not desert to his foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I'll never, no never, no never forsake."

Beef and Vegetable soup

For the last two days I am going to do soup recipes. Biscuits go really good with this one.

Beef and Vegetable soup
1 lb. stew meat
4 cups broth
salt, to taste
1 clove garlic, minced
1 onion, chopped
1-28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
approximately 1/2 cup each of carrots, green beans, and peas
1 T parsley
water, as needed

optional ingredients: 1 T sugar
1/2 cup each of celery and corn

Cut meat into small cubes. If using fresh meat, fry in a little oil in the bottom of a large pot and drain grease. If using leftover, continue to the next step.

Combine all ingredients and bring to a boil. Simmer, covered, for at least 2 hours, and up to 4 hours.

Crockpot: Cook on HI for 4 hours or on LO for 8 hours or until ready to serve.

Pie Well

Today is my Aunt's birthday so I am going to share a recipe that I made up for her a few years ago. I was going to make it as a surprise for her one time but I never got around to it. You might have to play around with the measurements.

Pie Well
1 pie crust
1 bag marshmallows
1 cup chocolate chips
2 cups M'n'Ms

Bake the pie crust. Do a row or two of marshmallows and drizzle melted chocolate chips over it. Fill the hole half way with melted chocolate and stick M'nMs on the top of the melted choclate. Enjoy.

Ginger Snap Cookies

For today I decided to go along with my fall theme and do Ginger Snap Cookies. I find the dough a lot yummier then the cookie, but Daddy hates the dough.

Ginger Snap Cookies
In a bowl, cream together 2 1/4 cups shortening, 3/4 of a cup sorghum, and 3 cups sugar.
In a separate bowl mix 4 1/2 t baking soda, 3/4 t salt, 2T cinnamon, 1 T cloves, and 1 T ginger. Mix contents of both bowls together. Using an electric mixer, mix in 3 eggs and then 6 cups of flour. Make into big balls and roll in sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. When you take them out drop them carefully (while still on pan) so that line appear. Enjoy while fresh if possible. This recipe makes a lot, so unless you are planing on having a party only make 1.

Great Is thy Faithfulness

Today is the first day of my week long series of hymns. If I miss a day please yell at me in the comments the next day, (not the day of, because I usually don't post until almost bedtime). Alright, so, today's is "Great Is Thy Faithfulness"

Great Is Thy Faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not;
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above;
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, Mercy and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine with ten thousand beside!

Chicken And Rings

Hi ladies!
I can't do much writing today because I have to help Bri make Rotisserie Chicken to bring to church tomorrow for the meal, and then by that time it will probably be Bible time. Not much happened today. Us older 4 finished watching The Fellowship of the Ring. That is all the news that I have for tonight.
Bye!

Visitors

Hello ladies!
Today Bri got hired at Chic-fil-a, Daddy's family came for a visit, and we had a pizza party.
Just a little bit after daddy took Bri to Chic-fil-a for her interview Granny, Gramma, and Aunt Donna stopped by for a visit. We had a lot of fun together. The house looked like it had exploded after they left, there was so much stuff out, but it was worth it. After that everything went back to normal and we got the little ones down for quiet time, got them up, had supper, Bri made Banana Bread, and I am writing this while everyone gets ready for bed.
What was your day like?
Bye!

Rain

Hello ladies!
It was raining today and that reminded me of a poem that I had to read for school the other day. It was written by Elizabeth Coatsworth. I thought I would share it with you, so, here it is:

Rain
The rain was like a little mouse,
Quiet, small, and gray,
It pattered all around the house
And then it went away.
It did not come, I understand,
Indoors at all, until,
It found an open window and
Left tracks across the sill.

What is the weather like where you are?

Bye!

Tolkien Tag

So today I am going to fill out a Tolkien tag.

1.  What's your favorite Middle-earth story/book? It is either "The Return of the King" or "The Silmarilion". I like them about the same, so I guess time will tell.

2.  Do you have a favorite subplot? Not exactly. I like all the subplots, because I like to see how everything fits together in a way that I wouldn't have even thought of.

3.  What's your favorite theme in Tolkien's books? The Elves. Tolkien put his heart and soul in them, like Sauron with the ring, except Tolkien did his for good and not evil.

4.  Do you have a favorite weapon from Middle-earth? The daggers because they are small and begin their tale during the quest of the Ring.

5.  Would you like to be a hobbit? Yes.

6.  Do you have a favorite romance/couple?Yes. Beren and Luthien's story is one of true loyalty.

7.  What's your favorite Middle-earth creature?  (Can be "real" or "imaginary.") The Ents. Without them middle earth would be lost.

8.  What character do you look the most like? Some people say that Noah looks like Frodo and me so I apparently look like Frodo.

9.  Are there any books about Middle-earth or Professor Tolkien (but not written by him) you recommend? No. I have not read any.

10.  List up to ten of your favorite lines/quotations from the Middle-earth books and/or movies. The only one that comes to mind is "That doesn't make any sense to me. But then again you are very small."

Thanks for reading.

Our Quite Time Walk

I would just like to say thank you so much for reading my blog, because it isn't a very interesting one. Tomorrow I will try to fill out the second tag. I was thinking of doing it today, but I ended up not even starting it yet.
To day me, Bri and Andrew went on a much anticipated walk at quiet time. I love our walks so much. The way we went down is about a 50 minute total time walk with very pretty mail boxes everywhere. When we got home Bri played a game with Tori, and me and Andrew played scrabble, while eating very old ginger snap cookies. I need to go up stairs now, it's Bible time.
Goodbye, and thanks for reading this.

My Day

Good morning ladies! I would like to share my "schedule" with you.
So the first thing I do when I wake up is I try to do my Bible reading for the day so that I don't forget that I haven't done it yet, then I get me and Noah ready for the day. After that we usually have breakfast about right away.
After breakfast I work on my school for the day which usually takes me until lunch time. When we are through with lunch, I clean up and put Noah down for quiet time, then I go and do something with the older ones for our quiet time. After that I usually work on leftover school work or I work on a craft. My favorites are painting peg dolls or sewing with felt. We then eat supper and we get everyone ready for bed, then after family Bible time, I get me and Noah in bed while daddy tucks everyone in. This usually takes a while because Noah is very fun to play with, and also very cute and he uses that and his nice manners to get what he wants.

Thank you for reading this :)!
Bye.

31 Days of Bethi

Hello ladies :)!
I have never done this before so this might be a little boring. If it is please tell me so that I can try to liven it up a bit. I have chose to do a kind of random theme with a couple series type things, such as Recipe Sunday and Book Tuesday. If I get enough questions in the comments then I will do a Q&A Day as well. I have 2 tags waiting to be posted sometime this month and I will probably do a couple completely random days sometime as well.
I am 13 years old and I live in South Carolina with my family of an even 5 boys and 5 girls.
I enjoy working with felt and peg dolls and gardening. This year me and my older sister Bri put in a garden and it did so much better then last time. I became a believer when I was about 6 years old.
Bye :)!
